Maddison, our Holiday Kids Campaign beneficiary for our Washington region, was diagnosed with Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia Type 2 when she was five months old. This genetic mutation causes abnormal development of the brain, leading to slow development and movement problems.
Maddison’s mother works as an RN while her father stays home to care for her. Maddison has three sisters and two step brothers. She is soley tube fed, and can only communicate with facial expressions. Her feeding supplies cost $900 a month.
The physical therapy and medication costs are in addition to that, and their private insurance denied her a bath chair. Estimated cost is $2,500.
