Treatment should be designed specifically for you to achieve an exceptional outcome, not just an acceptable one. It's what our founder, Executive Chairman of the Board Greg Steil, believed when he started ATI in 1996, and it's what we continue to believe -- and practice -- today.
An exercise physiologist and three-time power lifting world-record holder, Greg established ATI with a focus on functional capacity evaluations and work conditioning/hardening for worker's compensation patients. After opening his first clinic in Willowbrook, Illinois, Greg quickly realized there was an opportunity to provide a new and unmatched level of service to injured workers. He developed the internationally recognized F.I.R.S.T. (Functional Integration of Rehabilitation and Strength Training) program, based on extensive research and input from orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, exercise physiologists, and bio-mechanists.
Dylan Bates, a licensed physical therapist who is now ATI's Chief Executive Officer, joined the practice in 1999 to expand physical therapy services. As a collegiate athlete, Dylan shared Greg's vision for aggressive rehabilitation through strength training and conditioning. This fueled the development of ATI's new and superior treatment protocols and techniques.
With a winning combination of exceptional care, incredible people, and a commitment to being the bright spot in the day of every single patient, ATI Physical Therapy quickly began to expand. Now, with over 400 clinics in twelve states, ATI continues to provide patient care based on its founding principles.
Do you know that ATI stands for something? Other than quality patient care, it's a little known fact that the letters in our name actually mean Athletic Therapeutic Institute.
