Restriction Management
It is most often the healthcare professional who is on the floor and best situated to assess return to work capabilities and accommodations.
To begin this assessment process, our team will first ensure that updated, comprehensive Functional Task Analysis (FTA) exists. This FTA document should include a listing of the critical and essential functional task, the Physical Demand Level and a listing of non-essential functions.
With the data available from the FTA, AWS is able to develop an assessment tool for both new hire assessments (Post Offer testing) and existing employee return to work (Fit for Duty testing).
A valid and defensible Post Offer test must contain only testing on task components that are critical and essential to the job. This test must be job specific, and give only a Pass/Fail results (with ability for ADA accommodation language). ATI Worksite Solutions has been successfully developing fully defensible Post Offer testing since 1995.
For return to work assessments (sometimes termed fit for duty assessments), the on-site Specialist must again refer to the FTA data for determination of functional requirements. The encounter type, Fit for Duty, is the documentation tool within our electronic EMR system, OnSyte, that will drive the assessment and provide specific recommendations regarding temporary limitations and/or restrictions.
