Ava is the 2015 Holiday Kids Campaign beneficiary for the Wisconsin region. She was born in Heng Yang, China. She was adopted in 2011, and her parents and brother and sister also have Achondroplasia Dwarfism. Additionaly, a CT scan showed that she had a stroke in utero, which caused cerebral palsy, cognitive and physical delays, as well as seizures.
In 2012, Ava’s parents were told that her brain was always seizing or at least trying to seize. Her neuro team recommended brain surgery to stop the seizures. After many discussions and prayers, surgery was planned. After one year and two surgeries, Ava, a.k.a. “Princess Firecracker” is seizure-free, happy, and thriving! The ATI Foundation will provide $1,500 to assist with Ava’s surgical expenses.
