Joshua
Fallston, MD
Joshua is the 2015 Holiday Kids Campaign beneficiary for the Maryland region. Born with spina bifida with hydrocephalus, he has played wheelchair basketball since he was eight years old, and also recently started playing softball.
Last year, a headache brought Joshua to the hospital for his fifth shut revision. However, he suffered multiple strokes while in the recovery room, resulting in the inability to wake him. After months of hospital stays and rehabilitation, he is finally back in high school, but he isn't nearly as independent, strong and mobile as he was prior to the strokes.
Right now, a ramp to get Josh into their mini-van would help Josh and his family get to and from doctor appointments, wheelchair basketball games, church and family outings. This type of ramp would cost upwards of $5,000.
