The National Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers presents their 2012 Dan Libera Service Award to Michael Stanwood, athletic trainer and current clinic director at ATI Physical Therapy in West Chester. Stanwood officially receives the award on June 26, 2013, at the National Athletic Trainers Association convention in Las Vegas.
The BOC Dan Libera Service award was established in 1995 to recognize Libera’s contributions to the BOC certification program and continues to honor those who have shown dedication to the athletic training profession as a whole.
“This award is a culmination of all the hard work that myself and others did for all of those years,” Stanwood said. “It’s an honor.”
Stanwood served as a test site administrator for 17 years in the Philadelphia area, administering the practical part of the national certification exam to athletic trainers. In addition, he also helped write test questions and train others to administer the practical exam.
“We’re really proud of Mike,” said Lisa Boyer, East Coast Director of Sports Medicine. “He’s truly committed to advancing the profession of athletic training, and it’s great to see him recognized for his years of service.”
