ATI Foundation Celebration Extravaganza: A Running, Rolling, Rocking Good Time
August 27, 2012

Whether you were a competitive racer, a motorcycle aficionado, a casual walker, a lover of rock music, or just enjoy good company, there was something for everyone at the 2012 ATI Foundation Celebration Extravaganza. The 2012 event combined the annual 5K Run, Walk & Roll with the Cruisin-4-Kids to create an incredible event that raised funds for the ATI Foundation and children with physical impairments.
Well over 1500 people attended the event, with more than 1000 people running or walking the 5K route that took folks right onto the Joliet Slammers field, then wound through downtown Joliet and ended at the Harrah's Casino parking lot where The Matz Bros band, food, kids' games, bouncy houses, face painting and more awaited them.
Congratulations to our race winners:
Female Overall Awards: 1st - Jaime French, 2nd - Megan Baganz, 3rd - Megan McCormak
Men Overall Awards: 1st - Kevin Dockemeyer, 2nd Matthew Wiersema, 3rd - Michael Mendez
The 200 motorcyclists revved up their engines following a rousing rendition of the anthem by Jim Cornelison. It was an exciting send off for the100 mile poker run that included a scenic ride along the Kankakee River with stops at Tuffy’s Lounge (Wilmington), the American Legion in Aroma Park, Route 50 North (Manteno), and Bit O’ Blarney Pub (Manhattan). The post-ride celebration in the Harrah's parking lot featured music from the Hat Guys, food, and a custom bike show. A highlight of the event was the raffle for a custom ATI Foundation bike.
The day also featured presentations to several ATI Foundation beneficiaries including an adaptive bicycle for children with special needs awarded to Preston's March for Energy.
A special thank you to Harrah's Casino for being the presenting sponsor of the event.
