ATI Foundation's 3rd Annual Indy Metal Walk Raised $33K+ for Children

Indianapolis, IN - October 18, 2016 - This past Saturday, 175 people joined together to walk or run for children with physical impairments. The even was co-hosted by two organizations - Methodist Sports Medicine Research & Education Foundation, which embraces a crucial long-term role in the advancement of orthopedic medicine, and the ATI Foundation, who is dedicated to assisting children with physical impairments. The goal of this special event is to raise funds for both organizations' missions.

The 1K/5K event, presented by the Indianapolis Colts and Smith & Nephew, was created to celebrate those returning to an active lifestyle following joint replacements and orthopedic implants. With the help of these participants, family members, friends, employees and community members, the event raised $33,750. The ATI Foundation presented a check to Caden, a four-year-old boy from Martinsville, IN. Immediately following his birth, Caden suffered at least one seizure. This has contributed to a significant leg length discrepency and delayed motor skills development. He has faced many challenges while learning to crawl and walk. Over the last couple of years, he has outgrown two braces and has gone through extensive physical therapy. The financial gift presented to Caden and his family at Saturday's event will allow them to purchase new day and night leg braces to assist with his progress.
