ATI Physical Therapy Launches New Immediate Care and Wellness Clinic in Waukesha, Wisconsin
Pilot Program Aimed at Addressing Primary Care Physician Shortage
Waukesha, WI – With the changing healthcare landscape, aging population, and mandatory insurance rules, ATI Physical Therapy is launching a pilot program to help fill the need for more primary healthcare services.
ATI has opened its first ATI Active Care clinic, a walk-in clinic that provides immediate care for non-emergency acute conditions, physicals, health screenings, preventive health and wellness programs.
ATI is partnering with Activate Healthcare to offer services at the ATI Physical Therapy Waukesha clinic, located at 2835 N. Grandview Blvd, Suite 100 in Pewaukee, WI.
“At ATI our goal is to be lifelong providers to our patients and community. This is a quick and convenient service that fits well within the new health care environment in which offering quality primary care services is critical,” said Jeff Rogers, Vice President Product Management, ATI Physical Therapy. “ATI Active Care is ideal for patients in need of non-emergency medical care who are frustrated over long waits in emergency rooms, don’t have a primary care physician, or are having difficulty getting timely appointments with their primary care physician.”
According to the Association of American Medical Colleges there is already a national shortage of doctors. A recent study in the Annals of Family Medicine journal projected the country will need 52,000 more primary care physicians by 2025.
ATI Active Care is staffed by Family Nurse Practitioners, registered nurses with advanced education and training who are qualified to diagnose medical problems, order treatments, prescribe medications, and make referrals for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Nurses will coordinate care with a patient’s primary care physician, or patients may be referred to an emergency department or specialists for services outside of the practitioner’s scope of practice and/or if additional testing is needed.
“By providing services for minor acute illnesses and routine health screenings, ATI Active Care can help lighten the load on primary care physicians allowing them to focus on more complex care,” said Rogers. “We look forward to this pilot program and adding this service to other clinics in Wisconsin and across our company.”
At ATI Active Care, walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary for acute care services, which include assessment of cold or flu symptoms, rash, earache, muscle sprain or strains, bladder infections, bug bites and stings, minor burns and wounds, and allergy symptoms.
Primary care services include a “Stay Healthy Adult Visit” that is ideal for patients who have not recently had a physical exam and would like to become educated about their current state of health. Complete physical exam includes BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screening. Physicals for high school, college, sports, camp, and work are also available.
In addition, Nurse Practitioners are trained as Health Coaches, who work with patients to develop tailored action plans and health goals along with individualized incentives for reaching their goals.
