Indiana patients can now see a physical therapist without a physician’s referral
ATI Physical Therapy is expanding into Grant County, Indiana with the opening of a new clinic at 822 N. Baldwin Ave., in Marion. The clinic, which opens August 5, features physical therapy and sports medicine services provided by an upbeat, friendly staff.
“At ATI, you’ll enjoy physical therapy more than you could ever imagine. Our energetic team is focused on helping you get back to feeling your best, and making sure that you are getting the five-star treatment every step of the way,” said Mark Schodrof, Vice President, ATI Physical Therapy.
With the passage of a new law on July 1, Indiana residents can now go directly to a physical therapist for evaluation and/or treatment without a referral from a physician. For consumers who have questions about an orthopedic injury or pain, ATI Physical Therapy offers complimentary injury screenings. Patients are seen by a licensed provider who can evaluate the injury and provide options for continued care.
Dawn McCurley, a graduate from Indiana University School of Physical Therapy, will serve as clinic director at the Marion location. Dawn has over 30 years of physical therapy clinical experience, enjoys working with all types of patients, and brings a varied background of experience. She has spent the last 13 years working in orthopedic rehabilitation with ATI Physical Therapy. In her spare time Dawn enjoys gardening and traveling.
Chad Smith, a native of Marion, will be joining Dawn and is excited about opening ATI’s new clinic in his hometown. Chad is a graduate of Indiana University, where he played baseball for four years. Following his undergraduate studies, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and played two seasons in their minor league system. Chad recently received his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Ivy Tech and has been treating patients at ATI’s Kokomo location.
Founded in 1996, ATI now has over 40 locations in Indiana and more than 220 clinics nationwide. Unique in the industry, ATI has a dedicated in-house Research Department to improve rehabilitation outcomes through basic science, translational research, an evidence-based medicine.
An industry leader in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, ATI has been named “Best Physical Therapy Practice in the Nation” by ADVANCE Rehab Magazine, and has been awarded URAC Core Accreditation, a mark of distinction that recognizes ATI’s commitment to quality health care.
To give back to the local communities where ATI patients and staff work and live, ATI established the ATI Foundation, a non-profit organization benefiting children in need of resources and funding due to medical complications and physical impairments.
