What Is Aquatic Therapy?
For patients who are in pain and are weakened due to an injury or disability, aquatic therapy may offer the perfect solution to begin treatment. The natural buoyancy of water reduces the stress on the body and helps patients exercise easier with less pain. Plus, the natural pressure of water reduces joint and soft-tissue swelling and provides enough resistance to strengthen muscle.

Benefits of Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy is gentle enough to be implemented as early as one week after surgery or accident, depending on your condition and the recommendations of your doctor.

  • Water promotes functional awareness of body position, stability and balance
  • Provides confidence for patients by providing an environment in which to move relatively pain-free and begin restoration of function
  • Promotes muscle relaxation and reduces pain stimulus
